The cat is a particularly clean animal that takes great care in grooming each day.  However, this is not always enough.  Should you wash your cat?  If so, how do we get it right?  Because, as we know, water is not the best friend of our little cats ...

Is washing your cat useful ?

This subject divides, even among veterinarians.  Some people will tell you that washing a cat is a real crime, because not only is it a source of stress for the animal, but it also removes the natural protection of the coat.  Others will tell you, on the contrary, that washing a cat removes dead hair.

Well, we are not going to lie, when we see our little ball of hair curling up on the sofa when it is full of mud or it is not properly wiped the back, the bath appears as  THE solution you need.  It is not his little tongue that will succeed in removing so much dirt!

Certain cat breeds like the Sphynx secrete a high level of sebum, which requires washing them almost every day.  This does not mean having them take a daily bath, but at least gently cleaning their skin with a washcloth daily.

   How To Do ?

Are you afraid of washing your cat?  We understand you.  When we know that our four-legged friends can get into incredible rages when they are forced to do something, we do not even imagine what could happen in the bath ...

First, prepare the shampoo (special cat), the towel, the washcloth, the bath mat so that it does not slip, the hair dryer and anything else you think is useful.  Check that the bathroom is at the correct temperature, so that your cat does not get cold, and run the bath water for a few centimeters at around 38 ° C.  Ready ?  Come on, let's grit our teeth and let's go!

Use a brush and wait until your cat is calm to begin to untangle his coat.  After this prebrushing, your cat should normally be relaxed.  Take him in your arms while caressing him and drop him gently into the water.  Attention, it is important not to completely immerse the body of his cat, it would only stress him.

Hold him by the neck and start pouring lukewarm water over his body (avoid the muzzle and eyes) directly with the shower head or using a small container.  Then gently massage her body with the special cat shampoo.  Then rinse the cat with a light spray and immediately wrap it in a towel.

If your cat really does not support the bath and that each time you have tried you have been treated to a war scene, prefer the use of a damp cloth or a washcloth soaked in warm water  .  But remember to always dry your cat after you wet it.  In fact, the cat does not snort like the dog and therefore cannot remain soaked under penalty of catching a cold.
